I Hate Rapists

  • I Hate Rapists‏

    Karyn Indursky

You're a rapist
with unwanted touches
or simple caresses
while they're sleeping or awake
or even if you get them unconscious
it matters not to you.

You're a rapist
with those hands
removing clothes
never wanting to be exposed
or seen by your eyes.

You're a rapist
with roaming ideas
and thoughts shown
in your eyes
and acted out
when your victims
are too weak.

You're a rapist
threatening them not
to speak up
or they'll pay for it...
with their lives.

You're a rapist
making people feel
dirty from the inside out
and no one has
forgiveness for you.

You're a rapist
and i don't know
how you can
look in the mirror
unless you were
coerced in raping
and you couldn't fight back.

You're a rapist
who has hurt others
more than you can imagine
and you better loose that smile
because it's not fun, funny, or warranted.

You're a rapist
and there's nothing you say
to change who you are,
what you've done,
and what you forced
others to do.

You're a rapist
and that's why
so many people
hate what you've done
and even some people
downright hate you.

Karyn, I certainly can

Karyn, I certainly can empathize with the weight of passion expressed in this poem. It is not an easy thing to place your feelings aside when we see horrific crimes such as are acted out daily in our society. I was raped several times as a minor child, and eventually had to come to grips with this truth about our society. I went through the rigorous process of exposure therapy, and found it to be a very lengthy, arduous, but extremely fullfilling path towards getting in touch with the core reasons about why I personally, felt the ways I did about being raped. Our society sees rape as a lesser crime than it does murder. It makes no sense until you realize the many different ways in which one can be 'raped'. Physical rape is one thing, then there is date rape, and then there is coersion, (which becomes debateable as to whether it is actual 'rape' or not), and then there is psychological rape, which is done with or without physical contact. Many of us experience psychological rape on a daily basis without thinking twice about it. It stems from a lack of personal boundaries, and/or enforcing those boundaries in our lives with all we meet. If we are to live in the world peacefully and content, we all need to learn the value of personal boundaries.

Thank you for writing such an exquisite and intricate piece (for lack of a word that would fit better), and allowing an opportunity for 'rape' to be looked at rationally, as we accomplish nothing through hate....but for poetry's sake...awesome awesome. You put things in clear and concise words, and on subjects that carry as much volume as this one, it can be very cathartic for those trying to work things out within themselves, so that they can be in touch with their true essence of love and forgiveness, and not allow hate to consume them...(it was for me...I remember way back when).

I wouldn't change a thing about my past....because if I did, I would not have all I have today.

Blessings. http://m.voices.yahoo.com/psychological-rape-6894002.html

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "

thank yoiu

thank you. i wrote in a generalization to allow men, women, boys, girls, whoever to connect with. some are too scared, timid, ashamed, embarrassed to admit it's happened, but maybe this will give them the courage to stick up for themselves, fight back, and realize it's not their fault. by doing so, it may put the rapists behind bars or may they face the death penality, and then the rest of us can feel safer and more protected.

I hear what you are saying,

I hear what you are saying, but I feel that in many cases, the child is curious, and too little answers by parents who had too little answers or developed negative connotations about their own bodies at a young age. You couple that with condemnation from (most) church clergy and you get curious children. Then you combine that with broken marriages and a fight over material property, a society full of people who feel guilty and dirty about their sexuality and you get what you get--- the world we live in with hate multiplied ten fold..I don't kniw about anyone else, but I reached an age where I wanted to know what in the hell was behind those "different pants" with the zipper in the front. I refuse to lie. Lol.
