Footnote: Tanka After Richard Wright's Haiku # 323, 2

[My gratitude to Pungus for inspiring the

idea that issued forth as this poem]

The farmer in the

dell?---dead in the barn, his throat

cut wide:  his scarecrow

found, in the barn, the sharp scythe

and, also there, the farmer.

Author's Notes/Comments:

My thanks to Pungus for the idea.  The poem also alludes to the nursery rhyme, The Farmer In The Dell.
