Because, some years ago, I rudely compromised

the faith; my legs reflect it now, both paralyzed

partly.  But this affliction is not punishment

from God, but rather by His Gracious Mercy sent

to rid all discord's strutting stride of discontent

from my soul, that it might healed unto my good,

that I may, henceforth, worship and pray as I should.

I praise my Lord, who stands by me with kind intent,

and works all things out for me that I shall be blest---

here, or when my eyes close at earthly life's end, death;

or in His Kingdom, there to draw eternal breath

having entered the glory of the promised rest.

Decades ago, through Jesus Christ's Grace, I received

the Gospel; and, despite my deep flaws, have believed.
