On T. S. Eliot

I hope he had not infringed

against the stable or the unhinged,

who might have been scarred or singed

by reaching into the fire

that burned in hearts that were beating retreat.

But the heart can be a liar,

so said the poet and prophet, Jerry Myer;

the heart is full of deceit,

and often makes us feel incomplete,

unless one is full of conceit.

Author's Notes/Comments:
