+ 27.225 MHz 064: New Chief Of Sinners

[after 1 Timothy 1:15; Ephesians 2:8; Philippians 1:6;

Revelation 12:10; Hebrews 9:27; Exodus 12:7, 12-13]

Tell Paul I am a newer chief of sinners;

least in the Church, even beneath beginners.

But Christ's Words---gently evangelical---

call fleshly folks into the spiritual.

By faith, only, redeemed---even a jerk
(proud, sometimes lustful, crudely prodigal)

like me; lest anyone should boast the claim

that Heaven is achieved by human work.
I am not perfect; flawed in many ways,

but that does not obstruct Christ's Love (oh, praise

Him for his faithfulness even to me;

this joy transcends even theology

and is better expressed in poetry).

I will be finished, by Christ, in His Way,

complete in Him, but not until His Day.
To Him, I am not lost---though gone astray

sometimes.  But even I do not confuse sure

proof of who serves the reprobate Accuser

of faithful Brethren.  Though they serve a grudge

here, they, too, will be called, sometime, to face

the ultimate, unstinting, Righteous Judge;

their rough doorposts not smeared with saving Grace.

This beautiful devotion is so

This beautiful devotion is so genuine and moving because it is an act of surrender to God's mercy, His overwhelming grace, and an example for others who feel lost and afraid to follow. It reminds me of some of the prayers of Saint Francis of Assisi that were equally humble, honest and beautiful.

A blessing to read.
