The Fight

Too much has been taken,

Too much has been lost:

Our language, our culture, our land.

All of which makes us who we are.

Those who came before fought

And died for this way of life.

We refuse to be the ones

Upon which the way was lost.

The fight does not end.

The struggle continues.

The People will not bend

To your will and greed.

We have fought, we are fighting

And we will continue to fight.

If we let you take this from us,

Where does it end?

What will you take next?

We think of our children and theirs.

This fight is bigger than us.

Seven generations from now

Our descendants will tell our story,

And it will be one of victory.

It will tell how we stood our ground

And kept the land, the way intact.

If we give in they will resent us

And know we were cowards,

Who turned their backs

Like a broken beaten dog,

Tail between his legs,

Licking his wounds in the corner,

Wallowing in self-pity.

But that is not us,

Not who we were raised to be,

And not who we will become.

The Fight does not end.

The Struggle continues.

The People will not bend.
