THORN!
Despised, rejected, despicable,
Ugly, cut off, hated,
Tossed, cast away, unloved
Condemned, unwanted
From the beginning unto the end
Draws blood of life from those who trespass
Striking quickly the careless aggressor.
Yet allowing the gentle, tender, and caring
To reach into heaven and caress creation
Adorning the pedestal with an awe
Brilliance, magnificence, and majesty
Only hunters can see.
The beauty fades, withers, and dies
Blossom, petals, fragrance, and colors fall
Hurts, wounds, lesions,
Distress, lies, destroyer of soul
All try to slither into the heart.
Thorn remains
Strong, sturdy, and steadfast
Resolute, unswerving, committed
The humble protector of the Rose.
Cemented upon the pillar of hope, love, and mercy.
Keeping strong the walls of castle’s keep
Divinely grafted upon the tower of enchantment
Protecting, guarding, yet non-lethal
Awaiting the next display and celebration of
Heavenly glory
Never tiring
Never abandoning
Always ready for battle
Each thorn with all of its pain and suffering
A stair step to Heaven
Leads us and takes us into Enteredness.
O, despised Thorn,
What splendor you bear
In your service as the
Guardian of the Rose!
Wow Pushkva Sir
Wow Pushkva Sir.... everyone discusses roses ... only a handful dare to discuss thorns !!! A thorn/thorns is/are despised no doubt. But ~ there may be a reason which you mentioned as "heavenly glory" i.e. the fingering of the velvety rose petals. But methinks let the rose be as it is . Why not allow it to grace the plant instead of being distributed as "love tokens" Humans have trespassed and will trespass on all of nature's creations which in my humble view is very very unfortunate."What splendour your words bear!" Thanx for sharing ..... Glad you like Twain ... "please sir can I have some more"

STAIR STEPS TO HEAVEN
Sir Bishu!
Thank you for reading my poem and thank you for taking the time to write a very meaningful response. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem about thorns. I enjoy pondering a topic which most view as negative and try to see what is unseen. I wrote a similar poem about Garden Weeds. When I researched weeds I learned that a weed is simply an unwanted plant. So, that means even a rose can be labeled a weed if it is unwanted. Another thought was that in a field of roses perhaps not one single rose would stand out. That's not a bad thing. I'm sure it would be wonderful on the eyes. However, a rose blooming in a field of weeds would REALLY stand out and its beauty would be amazing. So, I try to speak of even the weeds in our lives as having value and purpose, if for nothing else but to allow the rose to radiate its beauty.
A similar thing happened to me as I was scuba diving in the Philippines when I met a little blue fish who was amid the mud and rubbish and dead corals. His color was brilliant and shone for a thousand kilometres. I LOVE hunting for the beauty amidst the ugly...that which others may not see.

We are so ignorant Pushkva Sir
We are so ignorant Pushkva Sir ! We tell/speak/write about things we know very little about. People are just tiny microbes without aANY INTELLIGENCE whatsoever. We think we know... but the truth and complete truth we'll never know... If we know we'll cease to exist. I do agree we look for reason behind everything even God's creations. But till now nothing has been achieved. "The truth will never be known. The unrealized will never be realized. The tiny drop will slip into the ocean" Thanks Sir for reading my humble comment.God bless.
