Oh Little Child! Will you never sleep?

I've walked with you,

Carried you,

Held your hand,

Comforted you,

I've even bled for you,

For so many years.

Oh Little Child!  Will you never sleep?

One little prick by the fangs of life

And you go stir crazy.

The lies, the haunts,

The past, the regrets

Back they rush in a torrent.

Oh Little Child! Will you never sleep?

We are all grown up now.

Nothing is as it seems.

It's all right.

You are all right.

Stop cowering in the corner.

You are stronger than that.

Oh Little Child! Will you ever sleep?

Such a sensitive and tender heart,

That quivers with every mistake or hurt.

Sends you into the forest mist to hide

You peek and then duck back under

You run just to hide behind another tree 

Oh Little Child! Now sleep.

Nothing is so significant

That it will ruin all of life.

Apologizing until you drop

Not necessary,

Sometimes it is though

Oh Little Child! Rest.

You are more than you know

You have blessed more than you know

You have changed more eternities than you know

You have brought healing to others more than you know

You have encouraged and blessed more than you know

Oh Little Child! Be at peace

When those fangs of life prick you

Bite back and bite back hard!

Smile and laugh

Apologize if necessary

Otherwise let it go

Carry on

Continue to bring peace and healing

Be at peace and play

As a Little Child should.
