Strength

You cried to me “Don’t leave.”

And I walked away.

My heart was breaking in two,

My body was aching to turn.

I could still taste you on my lips,

Your picture in my eyes,

And I walked away.

I knew you would bring me down.

I needed to take control.

I grabbed a hold of something,

Some thing they call strength,

The inner desire to change,

The will to live,

And I held on to it.

Even when I think there is nothing,

I find it again.

Just when you think you have me,

I find it again.

The strength to say no,

The strength to continue walking.

The one thing that keeps me moving

My strength.
