Cold Coffee

I’m sitting here and my coffee’s cold

But it’s not like I’ve been told,

That you would make me cry.

I won’t even bother to ask why.

Just because there’s no point to.

Right now, I would probably still be holding you,

after a night of passionate love making.

Your still breath taking.

Damn it, I didn’t plan this.

Didn’t know, I would hunger, for just one more kiss.

I didn’t ‘t know at all,

last night when you made that call,

that it would drive us apart.

Or matter of fact, break my heart.

It was like a surprise party, without the host,

Or like a surfer, riding the coast.

It feels like every second without you, is a waste,

And everyone knows, cold coffee just doesn’t taste.

I like the way you refer the "cold coffee" reference to the difficulties centered around a broken relationship. I found this to be a very well-written and clever poem. Thanks for posting this truly unique and talented piece of work!!
