I Am

                           It hums.

White noise, the background symphony

heard only by her

             scattered, shattered

...a force of habit

In decibels too low to... disturb

she sees

      and holds

      and lives

with fragile wings and Iris eyes

         the sadness

         that has

always

undone her credibility

and her feet--they are from her mother

and have carried her among the ruins

         every time

and a wish for a mending kiss to heal them

from some sneaky shard of some broken thing

or other that escaped the broom, the vaccum, the

mop...

and blue jeans with holes at the knees

...but enough wear left for next summer

and the wind blows the betrayal

to dust and settled seas

salt-brined and

         Finally,

                     s.t.i.l.l.

I'm still floating on your

I'm still floating on your stream of wistful beauty. The faintly buzzing soundtrack of your pain, perfectly described as a "background symphony", glided elegantly into a deeply emotional and delicate outpouring I could feel, strongly, embedded in the images and memories:

"and her feet--they are from her mother

and have carried her among the ruins

        every time

and a wish for a mending kiss to heal them

from some sneaky shard of some broken thing . . ."

Powerful stuff. Must read it again!
