That fake celebrity aura

that was pulling 

that energy that was asking me to do much

for them, running after me every day every time

convicing me to praise them and never to stop

does she like me, what is she saying about me

And the rage of not being obeyed

She's black so she's use to pain

double the rocks we throw on her body

She thought I was talking about sprinting

this American girl: she said about us "she's can't speak good English

we are at the American school in Somalia

young; the cheerleaders and I; with me; the three of us

all Somali; she was alone, listening to us, and knew we

were cheerleaders of our school. Angry that she was alone

and that our candidate won

We never saw her again

we see each other other all the time

the Somalis, us being the cheerleaders

we enjoyed our private joke against her

(they) (she) don't speak good English

Now 30 years years plus we

sit and talk about the sense of superioty she felt over us

Yet our school was an English international too, and our sport coaches were as good as theirs

I was one of the sport coaches at that age.

The Italian and the American school hated

our International school because we were multicultural and they weren't

we were allowed to learn Hindi, Sanskrit etc. , and other conventional subjects

Years later working in Europe, during a training for a new job in an American company

I heard this British guy talk to a client/customer on the phone and harshly ask him if he spoke English.

Again I was hurt: hurt that world hasn't changed much
