Red As Hope

Vintage Words

Anemic prose bows to

full blooded poems that scream

living and live knowing death

lurks, leaning on the corner

lamp post, grinning.

Seeing red is fine especially

when the mind is on fire.

Watching red surround

you after a leap to death

is wasted, eventually mopped up,

and usually quickly forgotten.

Red is the color of all things

wonderful and bright to bring

smiles where frowns would thrive,

shouting love and peace

on a poster or tee-shirt to make

the world hum delight.
