To Us, God Speaks

Vintage Words

God breathed on the sun and the light

of the day ate shadows and spit
out the morning granted us by this
nature that was created.

This earth and sun, the stars,
the rains, grass, air, water,
and dirt know God's name better

than those of us who greeted

the dawn this day. We willingly

take the gift from outstretched

palms into fast filling fist

without pausing or waiting

to say thank you.

"The stars awaken a certain reverence, because though always present, they are inaccessible; but all natural objects make a kindred impression, when the mind is open to their influence." R.W.E.
